I, William Shiber, of the city of Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, and the State of Pennsylvania, being in good health and sound mind, make and declare this to be my will and testament in manner following to wit:

First:I direct all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid by my executors as soon after my decease is possible.

Second: After the payment of the debts and expenses above mentioned I give, bequeath to my wife Almira the use as resident of my property, both real and while she lives, and should my executors find the income of my property, both real personal, insufficient to furnish my said wife a comfortable support, I direct in that case that my executors at their discretion use any or all of my personal property for that purpose and if this is not sufficient, to sell on such terms and for such as they may dean best, any Real Estate that l may have so far as it may be necessary for her support, and for such purpose I authorize them to make a deed to purchase thereof.

Now and after the death of my wife, I give durse and bequeath absolutely, my personal property, not used for the support of my wife to Elizabeth Leffler, Sarah Ann Lloyd, James Shiber, Jesse Shiber, my children, and Julia Messinger and Emma Price my granddaughters, being children of my deceased daughter Mary Catherine Tenant, the said Julia Messinger and Emma Price taking the share of their mothered John Shiber, my grandson, being the only child of my deceased son John Shiber, the said grandson taking the share of his father. That to say personally aforesaid not used for the support of my wife, to be divided into shares, each of my aforesaid children taking one share and my said grandson John Shiber, one share.

My Real Estate, I give durse and bequeath as follows: To Elizabeth Leffler the lot corner of Washington and South streets, City of Wilkes-Barre, Penna, being sixty-five feet on South street and eighty-five feet on Washington Street, improved with a frame house being No.122 Washington Street, provided she pays within three years after my death the sums of money following: To John Shiber, twelve-hundred dollars (my grandson); To Emma Price, three-hundred dollars, (my granddaughter); To Julia Messinger, Three- Hundred Dollars, ( my granddaughter); To Sarah Ann Lloyd, Two-Hundred Dollars (my daughter). These amounts to remain a charge this property until paid. To have and to hold the said lot of land to the said Elizabeth Leffler in fee simple subject to the aforesaid charges. To Sarah Ann Lloyd Lot on South Street, Wilkes-Barre, Penna. being twenty-four feet front on South Street and extending of that width about eighty-five feet in depth; improved with a frame building, being No.105 South Street. To have and to hold the said lot to Sarah Ann Lloyd in fee simple.

To Jesse Shiber, lot on South Washington Street, City of Wilkes-Barre, Penna. being a thirty-three feet front on Washington Street and extending of that width about ninety feet in depth, improved with a frame house, being No.124 Washington Street. Provided he pays, within two years after the death of my wife, to Kate Shiber his wife, Five-Hundred dollars. This amount to remain a charge on the property until paid. To have and to hold the said lot of land to the said Jesse Shiber in fee simple, subject to the charge aforesaid.

To James Shiber, Lot on Lehigh Street, City of Wilkes-Barre, Penna., being about a fifty-one feet front, on Lehigh Street, and extending that width about xx feet to an alley, improved with two frame houses. To have and to hold said lot to the said James Shiber in fee simple.

These devises are made to equalize as nearly as possible my property among my children, I have helped some of them up, to this time, more than others.

Lastly, I nominate and approve my wife Almira and my daughter Elizabeth Leffler Executors of this my will and testament, with full power of authority to conduct and manage my Estate for the uses and purposes above set.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named testator, as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who, at his request, and in his presence and in the presence of each other, have hereunto subscribed our names as the witnesses thereto.

This day, before me, John Manwaring, Register of Wills in and for the county aforesaid, personally came W.L. Raeder and W.C. Olds the subscribing witnesses to the above and foregoing last will and testament of William Shiber, late of the City of Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County and State of Pennsylvania, deceased, who being duly sworn according to law, do say that they were present and saw and heard William Shiber the testator sign, seal, publish, pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament, and that at the time of so doing he was of sound mind, memory and understanding, to the best of their knowledge and belief, and that they did sign their names as subscribing witnesses in the presence of each other, and in the presence and at the request of the said testator. Sworn and subscribed before W.L. Raeder and W.C. Olds in the day and year above written.
