The Bomberger Farm Cemetery was originally located near Buffalo Springs; at some time the graveyard was moved to a single plot in the Iona Cemetery, Lebanon County, PA and the original tombstones were replaced by a single marker, both sides of which are photographed here. I have no idea who did this, nor where the original tombstones are today. |
The following information was taken from a typed sheet of unknown origin
on file at the Lancaster County Mennonite Society in Lancaster, PA.
I have numbered the entries according to the order they appeared.

I have not had time to fully identify these people, but here are some initial comments.
Daniel (#7) and Barbara Funk (#8) were married. A handwritten Bamberger genealogical ledger in the Lebanon County Historical society agrees with the dates for Barbara, but has information for Daniel as b. May 25, 1792 between 12 and 1 PM, d. February 6, 1845.
Johannes (#17) was the brother of Daniel (#7) and married to Catharine Schaeffer (#18), granddaughter of Alexander
Schaeffer, founder of Schaefferstown. Her name is misspelled on the transcription. The photograph of Catherine shown here is from Brendle's History of Schaefferstown.
The Bamberger ledger aforementioned lists Johannes' birth date as Sept. 6, 1768-
the original stone must have been hard to read!
Their children included John (#12) who appears as John S. (probably for Schaeffer) on the new stone, with his wife Elizabeth Shank (#13). [MORS 1980] gives her birthdate instead as April 28, 1805. This couple had children Liddy (#15), Mary (#16) and Michael (#14).
Presumably, John (#1) and Catharine (#2) are husband and wife with children Mary (#3), Emma (#4), Benjamin (#5), and Amanda (#6). Another child, Sara b. 1856 d. 1884 can be seen recorded on the new stone but is missing from this list.
The new stone lists a Daniel b. 1832 d. 1843, which closely matches (#9), although the year of birth differs.
Daniel (#7), Barbara (#8) and Johannes (#17) appear omitted from the new stone.
Here is a quick sketch; probably more information could be obtained from the ledger at the Historical Society in Lebanon
