Document submitted by Donna Ristenbatt.
ON THE TRAIL OF OUR ANCESTORS
Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, File S-324
Written: 1 September 1882
Date of Death: 30 April 1883
Recorded: 11 May 1883
Supplementary Information:
The will was recorded under George SCHOEBEL, but I believe this may
be because the person read the "U" as an "O" - easy to do if the U were
almost closed. Georg was actually Johann Georg
SCHÜBEL (sometimes written as SCHIEBEL. SCHUEBEL and other
variants) from Neidenfels, Oberamt Crailsheim, Württemberg. The wife in
this will is his second wife, Eva Maria HENNINGER. Her daughter is
Christiana, married to Jacob DOLL, in this will. Christina's real father
was Johann Georg KOCH. George's first wife was Margaretha
NEIDLING, who is the mother of Michael (by another man) and of
Rosina/Rosanna/Rosa. Rosa is the one legitimate child of George and
Margaretha.
I, George Schoebel, of the Borough of Lebanon County of Lebanon and
State of Pennsylvania, brush maker, being of sound mind, memory and
understanding, to make and publish this my last will and testament.
Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Maria Schoebel, all my
household furniture, and all my other personal property, to have and to
hold the same to her and to her heirs and assigns forever.
Item - I also give, devise and bequeath to her, my said wife, the use,
improvement and income of my messuage and lot of piece of ground on
which my dwelling house is situate in the First ward of Lebanon
Borough aforesaid, with its appurtenances, to have and to hold the said
messuage and tenement and appurtenances, for and during her natural
life.
Item - Upon the death of my said wife, I do hereby order and direct that
my hereinafter named executor shall as soon as conveniently may be,
after the decease of my said wife, sell and dispose of my said real
estate to such person or persons, and for such price or prices as may
be reasonably gotten for the same either at private or public sale
whichever shall be most advantageous, and the moneys arising from
such sale, he shall divide share and share alike among my children, to
wit: Michael SCHUEBEL, my son is to have one equal share: Rosanna
LUTZ, intermarried with John LUTZ, it to have one equal share, and
Christiana, my wife's daughter, intermarried with Jacob DOLL, one equal
share.
And lastly: I nominate, constitute and appoint Luther F. HOUCK, to be
the Executor of this my last will and testament.
In witness thereof, I, George Schoebel, the Testator, have to this my
will, written on one sheet of paper, set my hand and seal, this first day
of September, Anno Domini, one thousand eight hundred and eighty two.
George + (his mark)Schoebel (Seal)[Note: George could sign his own
name. He may have been too ill to sign here.)
Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named George
Schuebel as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us
who have hereunto subscribed our names at his request to be
witnesses thereto, in the testator's presence and of each other. Adam
Broskey and George M. Stanley
