Donald G. Vannatten, 75, of East Harbor Road, Union Township, died at 5:26 a.m. Jan. 2, 2004, in Jameson Hospital North, leaving at least 45 survivors.
Born Dec. 20, 1928, in New Castle, he was a son of Donald B. and Minnie Henning. He was married to the former Mary Moo "Pook" Catron on Oct. 8, 1976, and she survives.
Mr. Vannatten was an operating engineer for Local 66 of Youngstown. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed gardening and long rides in the mountains.
Survivors in addition to his wife are a daughter, Jeanne Vannatten of New Castle; two stepdaughters, Terri Hunter of Tompkinsville, Ky., and Susan Vitale of New Castle; four sons, Richard, Donald L., Timothy and Michael Vannatten, all of New Castle; three stepsons, Robert Catron of Franklin, Michael Catron of New Castle, and John Catron of Bessemer; a brother, Robert Vannatten of New Castle; two sisters, Phyllis Sheehy of Edinburg and Thelma Haskell of Chico, Calif.; 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Calling hours are 11 to 1 p.m. Monday at Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St. The Rev. Dennis L. Bupp, chaplain of Jameson Health Systems, will officiate.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
