Thomas P. Slevin, 73, of Lodi [CA], died July 11 of cancer at his home. He was born on Feb. 20, 1928, in Ellwood City, Pa.
Mr. Slevin served in the Army Infantry from 1946 to 1948 and spent 16 months in Korea.
He served as a teacher and administrator in Lodi schools for 29 years. He was a member of the Lodi Education Association, California Teachers Association, National Education Association, and served on the board of directors of the NorCal Tremors Girls Softball Club. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and playing softball with the Big Valley Seniors.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Erma Slevin; daughters Dorothy Hatterle of Wallace, Laurie Larsen of Lodi and Susan Leone of Lynden, Wash.; sons James Slevin of Las Vegas and John Slevin of Lodi; sisters Helen Sockaci and Ruth Jerome of Ellwood City, Pa.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas (Tim) Slevin in 1998.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anne's Catholic Church with Father Pat Curan officiating. Committal will be private.
