VENERABLE COUPLE BURIED SIDE BY SIDE
The Neshannock U.P. church was crowded to overflowing Monday afternoon when the double funeral of John H. Patton and his wife, Mrs. Margaretta Patton, was held. Side by side in caskets which were banked with beautiful flowers lay the bodies of the aged couple who were separated in death by only forty-three hours. Preceding the services at the church a short service was conducted at the house for the members of the immediate family, four of whom are ill.
At the church the services were conducted by three ministers, Rev. Thomas of this city, a neighbor of the deceased couple, led in prayer; Rev. H. S. Boyd, a former pastor of the Neshannock church, read the scriptures; and Rev. W. J. McClintock, the present pastor of the church, preached the sermon, taking a text from Job. At the conclusion of the services the bodies were interred side by side in the church cemetery. The honorary pallbearers were Joseph and Robert McKnight, Robert Speer and Robert Gormley. The pallbearers for Mr. Patton were Mathew and Samuel Stunkard; George Shaw; William E. Patton; Robert McCracken and John McConahy. For Mrs. Patton, the pallbearers were James Ellis, George Arrow; William Gibson; William McConahy; Andrew Glen; and George Fisher.
