John G. Moore, local city detective of the New Castle police force, died in the Jameson Memorial hospital, this morning, following a brief illness. He was 61 years of age and resided at 304 East Winter avenue. Mr. Moore was born in New Castle, March 6, 1892, son of Hazelton and Margaret Boyd Moore. He lived here all his life and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Fraternal Order of Police, the F.O.E. and the B.P.O.E. Mr. Moore entered the local police force on January 16, 1916. On January 1, 1934, he started his duties as city detective and was quite skilled in his line of work. He kept this position until his death this morning. He had been on the police force for 38 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Kelley Moore; two children. He also leaves two brothers; David G. Moore and Aaron G. Moore, both of this city. Funeral services from the Joseph B. Leyde mortuary.
Interment was made in Oak Park Cemetery
