Virginia A. Smith Gould

Hospital volunteer had worked for power co. Virginia A. Smith Gould, 60 Upper Idlewild Drive, New Castle, died Friday evening (10-05-01) in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown. She was 75.

She was born Dec. 14, 1925 in Clarion to Chester and Mary Jane Hogan Smith.

Mrs. Gould was 1943 graduate of Clarion High School, later graduating from Kittanning Business School.

Before retirement, Mrs. Gould was a Telehealth representative for Clarion Hospital. She was formerly employed by West Penn Power of Kittanning, Pa.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, New Castle.

Mrs. Gould was a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital in New Castle for many years and was active with the Democratic party in Union Township of Lawrence County.

Her husband, Donald G. Gould, whom she married July 24, 1948, preceded her in death on May 22, 1981.

Surviving are: one daughter, Cynthia DiGennaro Gould, Hermitage; one son, Michael Gould, New Castle; one brother, James Smith, Warren, Pa.; one sister, Ruth Laughlin, Clarion; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Donna Seigworth.

Mrs. Donald G. ( Virginia A. Smith), 75, of 60 Upper Idlewild Drive, New Castle.

Service: Funeral at 1 p.m. Tuesday (10-09-01) in the funeral home with Rev. Barbara Moore, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, New Castle, officiating.

Burial: Castle View Memorial Gardens, New Castle.
