William Henry Evans, aged 69, 708 South Mill Street, died suddenly Thursday night at 11:15 after being stricken with a heart attack while he was attending a railroad social event in the Knights of Malta hall. He was hurried to the Jameson Memorial Hospital, but died en route.
Mr. Evans had been suffering from a heart ailment for the past two years.
Mr. Evans was born in Mt. Jackson and had lived in New Castle practically all his life, being an old-time railroad man, having been employed on the Erie road for many years. He was the son of Daniel and Elizabeth Miller Evans.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Viola Shook Evans; two sons, Bert P. Evans and William Roy Evans; two daughters Mrs. May Hammond and Mrs. Corrine Greer; two brothers, David S. and Albert D. Evans; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at two p.m. from the residence 708 South Mill Street, with Dr. Charles B. Wingard, pastor of the Central Presbyterian church, officiating.
Interment will be made in Greenwood cemetery.
