Samuel Duff's death.

We regret to state that Mr. Samuel Duff, son of James Duff, near Mount Jackson this country, who was a member of Battery B, first Pennsylvania Artillery, died on the 13th ult. a minnie ball which shattered the bone, and so prostrated his system that the surgeons considered him unable to undergo an operation. Mr. Duff went into the service of his country in October, 1861, was a brave and energetic soldier, not only for his country, but the cause of Christ. He was a worthy member of the United Presbyterian Church, and just before the battle, in which he was wounded, he was seen settling on the caisson of his battery reading his testament. His comrades, in arms, all corroborate in his good qualities as a man, soldier and christian. His remains were brought home on Monday the 29th ult. and deposited in the family burial ground near Mount Jackson, followed by a large concouse of relatives and friends. He was about 25 years of age. We truly sympathize with his bereaved relatives and friends in the early death of this excellent young man.
