John E. Cameron, Sr., 84, of N. Vine Street passed away the morning of November 4, 2012 in Jameson Memorial Hospital. Born on July 10, 1928 in New Castle, he was the son of the late James and Dorothy Dock Cameron. He married his wife, the former Doris M. Smith on January 23, 1954. She survives.
Mr. Cameron retired after 42 years of service from PA American Water Company where he worked as a pump station operator. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Sparklers and Prime Timers and a member of the Washington Union Alliance Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, three daughters, and two sisters, Donna Smith and Pat Cameron both of New Castle; twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Harper, Ruth Cameron and Betty Cameron.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 941 S. Mill Street. A service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens. Military rites will be provided by the New Castle Area Honor Guard on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
