HIRAM BRUCE, one of the oldest residents of this locality and a lifelong resident of Scott township, passed away Friday on the farm where he was born. His entire life had been spent upon the homestead and he was widely known in the community where his more than four score years had been passed. Dissolution resulted from the infirmities of advanced age, after a short illness. He would have completed his eighty-eighth year, had he been spared until the 14th of the coming February. His wife died thirty years ago and he is survived by six children: John A. Bruce of No. 409 High Street, and Mrs. Elizabeth Sperry of No. 420 Pittsburg Street, this city; Joseph Bruce, who resides at the homestead, Mrs. Fannie Richael of Scott township, James Bruce of Ellwood City, and Mrs. Jennie Allen of Oregon. Mr. Bruce was a member of the Harlansburg Baptist Church and was a man of high character and sterling integrity, whose death will be deeply regretted by all who knew him. Funeral services at 11 o'clock Sunday morning from the Harlansburg Baptist church and interment there.
