Sarah Rebecca Allen

On Sabbath the 12th day of January, 1862 of typhoid fever Sarah Rebecca, daughter of Alexander I and Abigal Allen, of Washington township, aged 12 years 11 months and 28 days.

The deceased was just blooming into womanhood - was the beloved of the family, of the Sabbath School Room, and all with whom she associated. She was a member of the Union Sabbath school for eight years, and was worthy of being imitated although so young in years.

Parents weep not for sarah,
Her gentle spirit's fled,
She gently sleeps with Jesus,
Among the silent dead,
Shed not a tear of sorrow
Around her silent tomb -
Think what a lovely flower
you have in heaven to bloom.

The loved on earth are called away
To bloom in light above
Where saints amidst the bright array
Now sing Redeeming Love.
