HINKLE, NAYLOR, MCNAUGHTON - Juniata Co.
Looking for information about GGrandfather John Hinkle, born in either June or
July 1850 to parents "Jonathan" Hinkle, age 23 shoemaker, and wife
"NJ" or could be "VJ", age 18, in Turbett Township, Juniata
Cty. Census page is very poor copy, and initials only given for most. GG is
listed as Infant. Other note says parents married within the year. John Hinkle
married Sarah Jane Naylor around 1873 or 1874. Family history says John Hinkle
left on a lumber scouting trip & never returned. But, according to the 1900
census records, Sarah Jane lists herself as divorced. They apparently divorced
by 1880 & he remarried Alfarata McNaughton around 1885 and relocated to Port
Royal. Or maybe not ---- a second baby born in Menallen Twnship, Adams Cty. in
1850 is also named John Hinkle. Uncited source says this is the husband of
Alfarata. If you are researching the HINKLE/HINKEL line --- can you help?
Thanks!

RESLER, KNOPSNYDER, RHODES - Juniata Co.
My wife's 2g-grandfather, William RESLER, was b. 27 Sept. 1813 and d. 25 Nov
1909, Genoa, Nance Co. Nebraska. According to his NE Death Certificate, he was
born in Mifflin, PA and his mother was Elizabeth KNOBSCHNYDER (KNOPSNYDER ?).
His father is not shown. A typewritten "family history" says that
William was one of thirteen children and he was thought to have had a sister
named Sophia, who m. John RHODES.
William RESLER m. Louisa OSENBAUGH 25 Jan. 1835 in Wayne Co., Ohio. A Sophia
RESLER m. a John RHODES in Wayne Co., Ohio on 23 Oct. 1838; A Catharine RESLER
m. a John PIPER on 28 Dec. 1837, also in Wayne Co., Ohio. It would seem this
Sophia and Catharine, as well, probably were William's sisters.
Johannes KNAPSCHNEIDER (KNOPSNYDER) was b. 1729 in Germany and came to PA in
1753. He settled in Moore Twp., Northampton Co., PA and m. a woman nameded
Catharina. They had at least six children: three boys -- Johannes or John,
George and Conrad; three girls -- Sybilla, Regina and Catharina. I know that
George probably was not Elizabeth's father. Conrad moved on west to Bedford Co
by 1790 and to Somerset Co. by 1810. John apparently stayed mainly in Columbia
Co.
John was b. abt 1765. He was in Northumberland Co. in 1810 and 1820;
Somerset, Milford Twp. in 1830; Columbia Co., Sugarloaf Twp in 1840 and living
with David MOORE, apparently his grandson, in Northampton Co., Moore Twp. in
1850. Also, he was listed as a member of the St. Gabriel Church, Columbia Co.,
Sugarloaf Twp. on 8 Aug. 1812.
At this point, John KNOPSNYDER appears to be the best candidate for Elizabeth
KNOBSCHYDER'S father. I would like to hear from anyone that has information
about this family or can help me in any way.

HUFFMAN, BUCHANAN, LANE - Juniata Co.
I am looking for any information on George W. HUFFMAN, who was born in the Black
Log Valley and who was the son of Samuel and Mary (Buchanan) HUFFMAN. He was
probably born in December 1848 and was married to Mary J. LANE of Reeds Gap, PA.
George W. HUFFMAN died April 4, 1927 in Shirleysburg and was buried in Riverview
Cemetery, Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, PA. The Riverview Cemetery has been
unable to locate his grave as he was buried in a lot which belonged to another
member of his family - if I had the name of this family member, I would be able
to locate this grave. Also, if someone lives locally and could visit the
courthouse in Juniata County and search the marriage books for the marriage of
George W. HUFFMAN and Mary J. LANE, I would be appreciative. I visited this
beautiful area last week, on Wednesday, and was dismayed to find out that the
courthouse was closed on Wednesday. I do not have a date for their marriage, but
would guess that if listed, it would be in on of the earliest marriage books -
as I do not know what year the marriage books start at. If e-mailing me, please
place the word 'Huffman' in the subject box; otherwise, I'm afraid to open it.
Thank you - and if anyone needs assistance with look-ups in Huntingdon or Blair

REIGLE, MILLER, RICHARDSON, DALRYMPLE, TAYLOR, FULTON -
Juniata Co.
Searching for the parents and siblings or further information on George REIGLE
(aka RIEGEL, REIGLES, etc.). George was b.ca.1787. He was md. to a Margaret
_____ (b.ca.1797) and had at least one son, George (b.1814)[info from 1860
Juniata Co., Lack Twp. Pennsylvania Census].
George purchased ground on 19-Dec-1855 in Lack Twp., Juniata Co., PA. from
James Lauthers (of Lack Twp.). At that time George was listed as "of"
West Beaver Twp., Union Co., PA. [I presume that it should say "Snyder
Co." as Snyder was formed from Union in March 1855??.]
I feel that George had a sister, Mary Jane who was married to David Miller
and resided near him in 1860 in Lack Twp., Juniata Co.. I also think that he had
a brother, Samuel who bought ground in Juniata Co. together with George from
Joseph and Catherine [Miller] Richardson. [note: Catherine is a daughter of
David and Mary Jane Reigle Miller.]
George and wife, Margaret later sold the above mentioned ground to a Jacob
Felmlee of Tell Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA. on 1-Apr-1865.
Can someone provide information or point me in the right direction?!

He remained there until his death in 1832. His wife Margaret died in 1843. He

Johanna Josephine SANDERS, but cannot fully verify. My Harry French KEPNER's
mother remarried a man named JOHNSON. It appears that the surname spellings of
KEPNER, KEPPNER, KEBNER, KEPLER, KEPPLER were used interchangeably on the old PA
