Elizabeth Vandruff was born in Rock Island, Ill., Sept. 2, 1835. DiedAug. 5th, 1903, at McLouth, Kan. She was married to John Cross July 15,1855. They came to Kansas in 1869. Sevenchildren were born to them; two died in 1870.
Aunt Betsey, as she was familiarly known, was converted about 1862, andwas among the first members of the class of United Brethren in Christ,organized on Big Island, by I. L.Sterns, of the Rock River Conference. After coming to Kansas she wasunited with the Methodist Episcopal Church.
The funeral was held in the M. E. church, conducted by the pastor, J.H. Zabriskie, assisted by Rev. Huffman, of the U. B. church and Rev.Kimmel, of the Dunkard church.

Mrs. Elizabeth Cross, mother of Mrs. McPherron, and of James, Williamand George Cross and Mrs. Westfall, died at James' home Wednesdaynight, sfter an illness of several monthsof nervous prostration and later other troubles. She was a sister ofJoseph, John and Joshua Vandruff, alldeceased. Funeral was this morning at 10 o'clock.

Mrs. Elizabeth Cross died Wednesday evening at the home of James Cross.She was born in Illinois, September 2, 1835 1835 and died August 5,1903. She was married July 15, 1857,became a Christian in 1862 and united with the Methodist church whenthey moved to Kansas. Rev. Zabriskiepreached the funeral at the Methodist church Friday morning and theremains were laid to rest in the McLouthcemetery. The children left to mourn her loss were Mrs. Westfall, ofKansas City, George Cross of Lawrence, WillCross of Oklahoma, Mrs. McPherron and Jas. Cross of McLouth.

John Cross died last Monday evening. The funeral was held at theDunkard church on Wednesday, conducted by Rev. Musser.
The remains were laid to rest in the McLouth cemetery. All the childrenwere present at the funeral, and all except Mrs. McPherron accompaniedMrs. Cross to Lawrence, Wednesdayafternoon.

John Cross was born Aug. 20, 1832, in Waynesburg, Pa., moved to RockIsland, Ill., at the age of 8, lived there until the fall of 1869.
He was married to Elizabeth Vandruff in July, 1855. Seven children wereborn to this union, five of which survive with their mother. He movedto Kansas in 1869 and has residedin Jefferson county almost all of the intervening time.
He professed faith in his Saviour and has lived a sweet life of selfsacrifice and love. He has been an invalid for the last twenty years(balance illegible).

Mr. John Cross died at his son James' home in this city, of generaldebility, Dec. 23, 1901, after several months of ill health. He waspatient and kind, and ever thoughtful of the kindhands that nursed him. He leaves a sorrowing widow, three sons and twodaughters, all of whom were at his bedside.The funeral was held in the G. B. Church Christmas morning, conductedby Rev. Musser of the M. E. Church, whichlatter church deceased was a member of. He died triumphant in the Lord,espressing his happiness to thevery last. The remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery to awaitresurrection.
