Query: Looking for information on the Moriarty
family who came to Marienville, PA from New York probably in the mid-1800's.
The father's name was Daniel George MORIARTY and he and his wife, Margaret
Alice, had thirteen children. Daniel was a train engineer who was killed
on the job in 1897. I do not have a complete list of their children's names
or their birth order, but my grandmother, Julia Katherine, was one of them.
She married into the LEECH family, and I am also looking for information
regarding them. They also settled in Marienville quite early in the 1800's
and my great-great grandfather, John Emery Leech, born 7/3/1830 was married
successively to two sisters from the EVERHART family, Hannah & Susan.

CHARLES JEREMIAH HARRIS

E-mail:
T.P. Harris
Query: I am looking for information on Charles
Jeremiah HARRIS, also known in the area as "Öld Doc HARRIS", a Seneca
Indian medical man who served in the Civil War. Could also use information
on what regiments were from the Jenks Twp. or Marienville area. Doc HARRIS
was probably born on the Seneca reserve in New York, abt 1837, but settled
in Jenks Twp, Forest Co, PA. There is apparently mention of his name on
a Civil War statue in Ridgeway?? Not sure of this. He lived at what is known
as the Old Harris Farm, now a part of a National Forest in the area, and
no public admission is allowed. He is buried in the family cemetery, which
is also supposed to be a sacred Indian burial place. Looking him up on census
records, has been to no avail. It is also possible he was listed as Jeremiah
CHARLES. He married a Marian CORNELIUS, also believed to have been a Seneca.
I believe he died in Jan or Feb 1914. He had a son named Henry HARRIS, who
married a woman named Laura, and Laura remained on the farm until her death.
Any information; however slight, would be greatly appreciated. Snail mail
may be sent to: [Ms. S. Doré, POB 51092, BCC 25 Peel Centre Dr. Bramalea,
