Petition of Henry Eikinbaugh a native of Germany for to become a citizen of the United States

To the Honorable the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas of Venango County.

The Petition of Henry Eihenbaugh A Native of Germany and heretofore a subject of the King of Prussia

Respectfully showeth:

That your Petitioner arrived in the United States of America, to wit: at the Port of Baltimore on the 12th day of July A. D. 1845, and that in pursuance of an act of Congress, entitled "An Act to establish an uniform rule of Naturalization, and to repeal the acts heretofore passed on that subject." made a declaration of his intention to become a Citizen and a report and registry of his nativity, age, allegiance, emigration, arrival and intended place of settlement in the United States, conformably to the said Act, before the court of common Pleas of Allegheny County in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania a certificate whereof is hereunto annexed; and that he has resided within the limits, and under the jurisdiction of the United States for five years last past, and for one year last past within the State of Pennsylvania; that he has never borne any hereditary title, or been any of hte orders of nobility in the kingdom whence he came, ore elsewhere.  He, therefore, prays he may be admitted to become a Citizen of the United States.

William Hunter, a Citizen of the United States, who being duy sworn according to law, says that he is well acquainted with the aboved named Petitioner, and that to his knowledge and belief, he has resided within the limits, and under the jurisdiction of the United States for five years last past, and for one year last past, within the State of Pennsylvania; that during the same period, he has behaved himself as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same.

I Henry Eihenbaugh the above named Petitioner, do on my solemn oath declare, that the contents of my Petition are true; that I will support the Constitution of the United States; and I do hereby renounce and relinquish any title or order of nobility to which I am or hereafter may be entitled; and that I do absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, Potentate, State and Sovereignty whatever, and particularly to the King of Prussia of whom I was before a subject.

I, Geo. R. Riddle Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, do by these presents certify, that on Monday, the 14th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four, Henry Eihenbaugh a native of Germany and heretofore a subject of the King of Prussia came before me, and having been duly sworn according to law, made his declaration stating that it was bona fide his intention to become a citizen of the United States, and renouncing and abjuring all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty whatever, and particularly renouncing and abjuring all allegiance and fidelity to the King of Prussia, whereof he was a former subject.

In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said Court, at Pittsburgh, this 14th day of October Anno Domini 1844 and of the Independence of the United States the 69th.
