WILL OF JOHN G. KEFFER
FAYETTE COUNTY, PA; Vol. 2 pages 474-477; dated 25 January 1845; Bullskin Township.

I John G. Keffer, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being weak in body, but of sound and disposing mind, and memory, (Blessed be Almighty God for the same), do make and publish this my last will and testament, in the following manner and form viz: Item 1st- I will and order, that all my just debts be paid out of my real estate, sold to  Joseph Gallentine, He complying with the article of agreement, my Executors are hereby authorized to make him a good and lawful title for the same. The remainder and residue of the money coming from my real estate, and all money on With all my personal property I dispose in the following manner, viz: Item 1st I give and bequeath unto my Daughter ELIZABETH intermarried with DAVID GRIM One Equal undivided Eleventh part of my real estate & of the cash I may have on hand, also one stew pot & lid one tea Kettle and  all that is due me or coming to me from her husband David Grim. Item 2d I  give and bequeath to my daughter HANNAH KEFFER one equal undivided Eleventh part of my real and of the cash I may have on hand, Also one wooden  bucket, one large tin bucket, one pewter dish, all my crocks and Bread baskets the use of my Ten plate stove, till her daughter Catherine is eighteen years  of age, if the stone is broke or damaged, she shall pay for it to the said CATHERINE to whom I give and bequeath the said stove when she arrives at eighteen years of age. Item 3d I give and bequeath unto my son JOHN KEFFER, one Equal undivided eleventh part of my real estate, and of the Cash on hand, Also one frock coat, one brown fur hat, one Flax Heckel, one Iron wedge, one fire shovel & one hand-saw. Item 4th I give and bequeath unto my son PETER KEFFER one equal undivided Eleventh part of my real estate & of the cash on hand, also six dollars to be entered as a credit  on the Murrey note, for which I am his surety. Item 5th I give and bequeath to my son JOEL MARIETTA KEFFER one equal undivided eleventh part of my  real estate & of the cash on hand, also six dollars to be entered as credit on the Murry Judgement, for which I am his surety (note my sons Peter and  Joel M. shall first pay all they owe me to my executors before, they receive my dividend that all may have as near equal shares as possible.). Item 6th  I give and bequeath unto my son HIRAM KEFFER one equal undivided eleventh part of my real estate & of the cash on hand, also one bed the same on which he sleeps when at home, One sett china cups & sausers, six red liverpool plates, three knives & forks, one small liverpool Bowl, one Methodist Hymn Book, one large chopping Axe, one Kitchen cupboard, one  gilt pudding jug, one razor, and box. Item 7th I give and bequeath unto my Daughter MARY KEFFER, one undivided eleventh part of my real estate, and  of the cash on hand, Also one large wheel, six white plates of the small ones, one bowl, one tine bucket (small one), Three spoons one book called Pilgrims Progress, one dough tray. Item 8th I give and bequeath unto my son SOLOMON KEFFER, one undivided eleventh part of my real estate and cash on hand, also one large Bible one testament, four pewter plates, one  slate, one looking glass, one bed, the same he sleeps on, the second largest chopping axe, three flowered plates, three knives & forks, one paper Box, one Gun. Item 9th I give and bequeath unto my son DAVID KEFFER one undivided eleventh part of my real estate & of the cash on hand, Also six large plates, white, one flowered palte, one large Iron Kettle, three chissels and Three augurs, one new Quilt, three chairs, one larg Bowl, two pewter plates, (Note my son Solomon shall pay 6to my Executors thirth dollars, in three years, and the same shall be applied by my Executors to the education and Maintenance of my son Robert Quincy Keffer, my son David Keffer shall pay to my executors Twenty dollars in four years, & the same shall be applied by my execuitors to the maintenance and education of my daugther Mahela Jane Keffer, my sons Solomon and David shall be entitled  to freedom, immediately after my death, & shall receive their dividend as above without a Guardian). Item 10th I give and bequeath unto my daughter MAHELA JANE KEFFER one equal undivided eleventh part of my real estate and  of the cash on hand, also one chest one single cover lid that has the most white in, one spinning wheel, two chairs, three spoons, one sugar bowl,  one dutch oven, one Quilt not fully made, one coffee pot, the balance of my cups & sausers, not before bequeathed, all my tin cups. Item 11th I give and bequeath unto my son ROBERT QUINCY KEFFER, one equal undivided  Eleventh part of my real estate & of cash on hand, also one single cover lid, one Quilt, two pillow, one sheet, one iron kettle, one drawing knife, two chairs, one clothes box, one small chopping axe, one glass salt setter, one small mug. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my son John Keffer and Henry D. Overholt Executors to this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former will, by me made, ratifying this written, one sheet of paper, to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said JOHN G. KEFFER, have hereunto set my hand & seal this 25th day of January A.D. one Thousand eight hundred and forty-five.signed John G. John G. Keffer, to be his last will and testament, in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereunto.

And I hereby commit the guardianship of my daughter Mahela Jane Keffer and Robert Quincy Keffer until they shall respectively attain the age of twenty-one years, unto John Keffer and Henry D. Overholt my Executors  named in the above will. Witness my hand and seal this 25th day of January A.D.

Fayette Co.,ss (Registers Seal) On the 8th day of April A.D. 1845, before me Joseph Gadd, Register, for the probate of wills & granting letters of administration, in and for the county of Fayette, personally came Charles McFaddon and Casper Etling, the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing instrument of writing, purporting to be the lsast will and testament of John G. Keffer, late of said County, decd...............
Memo Letters of Testamenty granted to Henry D. Overholt (the other executor named, being out of the state & refusing to act.) See Certificates filed with Will, who was duly affirmed 5th June A.D. 1845.
