The cemetery was first created by Brownsville Methodist Church. It was then taken over by First United Methodist Church of Brownsville. Because of the trouble and expense of maintaining the cemetery, the tombstones were removed and tossed over the bank at the northwest edge of the church property. One of the neighbors took the broken pieces of tombstones and built a marker which stands where the cemetery was previously located. The following were the only names obtained from the monument.
