Joseph Kidwell, fourth child of William Mandeville Ritenour was born at
Brandonville, Preston Co., WV, November 28, 1854. He was educated in
the public schools and became a drug clerk, following this until he opened a
drug store in Uniontown in 1876, which he still most successfully
conducts. He is the oldest drugist in the business in Uniontown and is
a careful and accurate compounder of prescriptions, also an energetic,
capable, honorable man of business. He is a Republican in politics,
has served in the common council and has always been a warm friend of the
public schools. He is an official member of the public schools.
He is an official member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and a man whose
influence is always exerted for good. He married in Uniontown,
November 7, 1878, Sarah Catherine Rodehaver born in Pontiac, Illinois,
August 19, 1851, daughter of Elisha Hagen and Eliza Ann (Wolverton)
Rodehaver. Her father, Elisha H. was born in Morgantown, West
Virginia, a farmer and a road builder of Monongahela Co.. He died in
St. Louis, Missouri. His wife, born in Morgantown, West Virginia, also
died in St. Louis, Missouri.
