DIED
At her residence in Allamakee county, Iowa on the 7th of Feb., Mrs. ISABELLA
wife of Moses A. Ross, Esq. Her disease was Paralysis, which accomplished its
work in a few hours. Sister Ross was a member of the C. P. Church, having united
with us at Masontown, some twenty years ago, and although, soon after her connection
with the Church she removed to the far west, and thus by the force of circumstances,
was separated from the companionship of those whom she loved, yet as we are informed
by the dear friend who communicates the information of her death. She lived
an humble and devoted Christian, earnestly and eagerly awaiting for the Lords
appointed time , that she might depart and be with Christ, thus saying to her
aged and bereaved companion, to her sorrowing sons and daughters, together with
the many acquaintances and friends she leaves behind; "Sorrow not as these
who have no hope." But remember that while "the wicked are driven away
in their wickedness the Righteous have hope in their death." A.G.O.

Two district men have died following short confinements in their cells in county jails. Dead are James Rubrights, 31, of the State Hotel, Connellsville, and George D. Hardin, 67, address unknown. Rubrights died yesterday morning at 8:25 as he was being removed from a South Connellsville firemen’s ambulance into Connellsville Hospital. Hardin died at 2:14 this morning in Uniontown Hospital, where he was admitted yesterday afternoon at 5:20 with a possible fractured skull. Connellsville police said Rubrights was arrested on a public drunkenness charge Friday night and was serving out his sentence when he took and epileptic fit in his cell Saturday afternoon and struck his face on a windowsill. He was taken to the hospital by city police and treated by a physician. He was given medicine to take back to jail and reportedly was feeling fine until police found him ill early yesterday morning. An ambulance was called and Rubrights died before he got to the hospital. Hospital attaches said his father is a resident of Melcroft.
Uniontown police were called by a taxicab dispatcher Saturday night who said one of his drivers saw a man tumble onto Church St. near N. Gallatin Ave. Hardin was taken to the hospital and treated for a cut scalp, then removed to the city lockup. Last evening at 5 p.m. Hardin was found in what appeared to be critically ill condition and rushed to the hospital where he was admitted with a possible fractured skull, attendants said. He died this morning. The body was removed to the Ferguson Funeral Home here and authorities today were attempting to locate a sister in Connellsville. Hardin carried no identification when arrested, it was said.

He had been ill about two months. PITTSBURGH, Aug. 17.— George F. Ruch’s confidence in J. Edgar Hoover, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has prompted him to place the future of his son and his fortune in the hands of the FBI chieftain. This was revealed today as the will of the late Pittsburgh industrialist, who was assistant to the president of the H. C. Frick Coal Company, was probated. Another clause in Ruch’s will directed that not more than $350 be spent on his funeral. Hoover and Ruch were close friends. The head of the G-men was one of many prominent persons who attended Ruch’s funeral several days ago. Although Ruch left his entire estate to his widow, Harriet Humingway Ruch, he directed that she follow the advice of Hoover and George Sheridan, another friend, in financial matters and in the education of their son, John Edgar Ruch, who was named after Hoover. Mrs. Ruch was given a free hand in the education of their daughter, Harriet Ann.

At Farmington, Fayette county, Pa., on the 20th inst., of Lung Disease, in the
26th year of her age, Mrs. SABINA, wife of Charles Henry Rush, and daughter
of German D. and Rebecca Hair.
A husband and four small children, as well as parents, relatives, and friends,
are called upon by this affliction of Divine Providence, to lament an irrepairable
loss, yet they have the great consolation of knowing that their temporal loss
is her eternal gain. The deceased suffered upon her bed of sickness and
death for about six weeks. Everything that skillful physicians and kind
friends could do, was cheerfully and faithfully performed, but without avail.
She bore her sufferings with christian fortitude, having, years since professed
to have found peace in believing in Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was
a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and by an upright walk and conversation,
endeared herself to all who came within her influence. She gave her parents
and friends much good advice, made known her wishes in regard to her children,
funeral, &c.
Her body was interred at Sansom Chapel, where the Rev. Mr. Hollingshead preached
an appropriate and eloquent sermon, to one of the largest and most affected audiences
that was ever seen in that section of country. ED

William Templeton, colored, died at the Cottage State Hospital, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and Mrs. Antonio Russo at 2:45 o’clock yesterday morning, as a result of wounds received in a mysterious shooting at Nellie coke works near Vanderbilt early Monday morning. The affair has three explanations, two of which are plausible. Shortly after 5 o’clock Monday morning a colored man attempted to enter the Russo home for the ostensible purpose of robbery, Antonio Russo having left for his work on the coke yards at 5 o’clock. Mrs. Russo refused to admit the man, who became angry and after firing several shots at the windows, forced the door. He then shot the woman, who grappled with him and forced him from the house, barring the door after him. The man again forced the door, and Mrs. Russo, who was becoming weak, took up a double barreled shot gun and said to him, “You have killed me and now you have come back to kill my children.” The man was near the door and although the woman was very weak she raised the gun slowly and discharged both barrels. William Templeton was found about two hundred yards from the house an hour after the shooting. He was brought to the hospital and never regained consciousness, his forehead having been battered open by a load of shot. The mystery now rests upon how Templeton was shot. Mrs. Russo shot at her supposed murderer, whom circumstances tend to prove was not Templeton. The colored man was about 19 years of age, well behaved and industrious at 5 every morning on his way to work. His dinner bucket was found near the house after the shooting and when he was found he did not have a revolver in his possession nor could one be found in the vicinity. This would lead to the supposition that Templeton had heard the shots while going to his work and had gone to the house to learn the cause. As he reached the door, Mrs. Russo thinking he was her assailant, fired, inflicting the wound which resulted in his death. That same morning two negroes had committed two robberies in the vicinity of Nellie and it is supposed that one of these entered the Russo home and killed the woman. The killing of Templeton has been placed by some upon several Italians who went upon a manhunt when they learned of the affair but this explanation has been proved false by an investigation.
