I am looking for the predecessors of Samuel E. DUNMIRE,JR, born March 10,1818 in Carlisle, Pa.,died Oct. 10,1916 in Ruffsdale, Pa. His parents were old Cumberland farmers, very possibly Samuel E(ugene) Dunmire who may have come down the Lehigh Valley from Conneticut, and Amanda Fingerbinder( or perhaps Finerbeiner). Samuel may have been a veteran of the Rev. War, perhaps part of the Hessian troops. There is reportedly a Dunmire (various spellings) rifle used during that war. Thank you for any help.

James DALLAS married Isabella SPROAT (or SPROUT) Sept. 28, 1808 in or near Carlisle, PA. I cannot find any information re the marriage (Church name, exact location, who performed it, church or county record). They only lived in the area about 2 years after they were married before they moved to OH. James DALLAS came to this country from Ireland about 1800 probably living in PA, Isabella's father was William who was killed in a well. His father John Sproat (Sprout) took care of the family. Information I have says John SPROAT bought a place called Blenheim tract in 1767. Is (or was) this place in Cumberland Co???

Cumberland County, PA . WAGNER, Herbert Frank, son of William H. WAGNER and Leah J. (aka Jennie), born JUN 1895 in Franklintown, York Co, PA; sister, Rosy M. WAGNER, born NOV 1887; brother, George W., born OCT 1892; 3 other siblings died before adulthood; possibly married sometime between 1914-1915 to Oraminta Cristobel BAKER (aka Orey) of Dillsburg, York Co, PA; one child, Winifred Elizabeth WAGNER, born 25 DEC 1915. Family legend says Herbert Frank WAGNER died as a result of gassing in WWI. No known place of death or burial. All above deceased family members are buried at St. John's Lutheran Church (Franklin Church), York Co, PA. There is no record of his service in York or Adams Counties. Perhaps he enlisted in Cumberland County. Any information regarding his place/date of marriage, death, burial, military service would be greatly appreciated. This man was my grandfather.

Searching for info on the origins and ancestors of John WASSON, who married Ann MEANS in 1744. Children were John, Thomas, James and Elizabeth. He was killed by Indians 26 May 1756 while farming outside Steel's Fort. Descendants of his son, Thomas, later settled in Butler County. This John Wasson has been reported as born 1715 in Peters Twp, Cumberland, PA, and he is also reported as born 1698 in Kilmarnock, Ayr, Scotland.

My line is from William Gamble or Gammel who was buried with hos wife Jane c. 1767/1771 in Big Spring Church, Newville in Cumberland Co. The lived at Hopewell and Newton, now Upper Mifflin Twp. Their son Samuel Gamble lived in Upper Path Valley, Fannet Twp with his wife Elizabeth Johnson, whom he married in 1763 until his death in 1797. Their son Samuel and his wife Catherine Morrow lived in the same place with their son Samuel b 1800. Samuel b. 1800 in Upper Path Valley lived there with his wife Isabella Bennet Wilson, daughter of Thomas Wilson and Esther Campbell b. 1803 m. 1827. They were in Toboyne Twp, Perry Co when their daughter, Susanna, was born. They retained links with Upper Path Valley until the whole family migrated to Illinois c. 1857. I have lots of information to share and look forward to meeting others who share all or part of this line.

Looking for the parents of Robert Walker born August 26, 1776. Native of Cumberland County. Barons places his death near the place of his birth on August 11 1814. His obituary referred to Robert as a Major and places his death at Springfield, West Pennsborough Township near Newville, Place of burial unknown. According to a Walker source he had a brother William who owned several large farms in the Cumberland Valley. No other information about Wm. A Walker source refers to Robert's mother as a "stout Dutch woman" and places his father's place of birth at Antrim County, Ireland. Robert married Mary Latshaw {Latcha} at the First Presbyterian Church of Carlisle on October 3;1805. Robert appears an the Cumberland County tax records in 1805 at age 29. Robert applied for a tavern license in 1806 for the Walnut Bottom Tavern . In 1809 his tavern was called the Brick Tavern on Walnut Bottom Road. In 1810 he moved to Jame's Moore's Tavern' which is reported to be still standing. Robert had four children' Wm. 'Mary' John and Margaret. After his death his wife, according to Barons, "journeyed to Allegheny County on horseback in that place making a home for her son William." Information about the family tree from this point has been fairly well documented.

Looking for any information on Rev. War pensioner, Lawrence BISHOP. He said on his pension papers that he was born 12 May 1763 in BEDFORD CO. (then Cumberland), PA. He names his father, *George* BISHOP (not Michael Bishop as previously queried). Lawrence also states that he entered service in BETHEL TOWNSHIP. He moved to JEFFERSON CO., KY on 23 October 1793 where he m. Mary Young on 5 June 1798. Lawrence then moved to BULLITT CO., Ky, where he m. Nancy Ann Stallings on 9 May 1802 and died sometime after 1850. His known children include: Mary Emma Bishop, Elizabeth Bishop, Samuel Bishop, Oliver Perry Bishop, and Anna Bishop. Any help appreciated

My ggg-grandparents Joseph WARNER and Elizabeth EBLEY were supposedly married in Cumberland Co., PA in 1821, and five of their children - John (b.1822), Samuel (21 Nov 1824) , Joseph (9 Oct 1826), George (11 Dec 1828), and Mary (Aug 1831) were born there. The 1830 census has them living in So. Middleton Township. By 1834 they had moved west to Ohio; in the 1840 census they are living in Madison Twp., Richland Co., OH. Joseph was born 1 Sep 1796 in Adams Co to George and ? Warner. Elizabeth EBLEY would have been born about 1802. Can anyone help me find where, and to whom? Thanks

I am looking for information on VALENTINE HOON. He was born in Cumberland Co abt 1766. He married SUSAN BIGLER in Bedford Co in 1796 and raised a family of ten children. About 1810, he moved to Somerset Co and settled in Allegheny Twp.His eldest son, Jacob, was Justice of the Peace there for many years. VALENTINE died in Columbiana Co, Ohio in 1845, at the home of one of his younger children. I have not been able to find any information on his parents nor his siblings.
