Registered April 23, 1883----__B. Hofford, Register

In the Name of God Amen. I Sylvester Root of the township of Cambridge County of Crawford & State of Pennsylvania being of sound mind memory and understanding praised be to God for the same, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows. viz:

I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mercy Root nine hundred dollars in money. All my household goods except two beds and beding for the same and I give my wife my covered carriage.

I give to my son SB Root one thousand dollars, six hundred of which I have paid and now hold his receipt for the same.

I give to my son Justin Root one thousand dollars, six hundred of which I have paid him and now hold his receipt for the same.

I give to my son Morton Root one thousand dollars, six hundred of which I have paid him and now hold his receipt for the same.

I give to my daughter Martha L. Rockwell six hundred dollars, three hundred dollars of which I have paid and now hold her receipt for the same.

I give to my daughter Sally A. Stanford six hundred dollars, three hundred dollars of which I have paid and now hold her receipt for the same.

I give to my daughter Lucy Root seven hundred dollars in money, the above mentioned two beds and beding and the organ.

I give to my son T.T. Root fifteen hundred dollars, which sum of fifteen hundred dollars I have given to T.T. Root in the finance of the Homestead farm as is agreed between myself & T.T. Root, and what may be left after paying the above bequests, be sold and the proceeds equally divided between S.B. Root, Justin Root, Morton Root, Martha L. Rockwell, Sally Stanford and Lucy Root.

And I do hereby constitute and appoint my son SB Root my sole executor of this my last will and testament

In witness whereof I, Sylvester Root, the Testor have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this 15th day of July 1875.

Crawford County, SS:
Before me, Register of Wills __ in and for said County, personally came R B Drake and N L Snow the subscribing witnesses to this annexed instrument in writing, perportaing to be the Last Will and Testament of Sylvester Root late of Cambridge Tp. deceased, who upon their oaths, say, that they were personally present at the execution of the annexed instrument and saw the said Sylvester Root sign and seal the same as and for his Last Will and Testament; that they signed the same as witnesses, at his request, in his presence, and in the presence of each other; at which time the said Testor was of sound and disposing mind as they verily beliveve.
