In the name of God Amen, I Adam Brookhouser of Hayfield Township, Crawford county Penn being weak in body but of sound mind, memory and understanding do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit.

First, it is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral expenses be duly paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently can be after my decease.

Second, I give and bequeath unto my dear wife, Mary all my estate both real and personal to have and to hold the same during her natural life, provided she remain my widow after her decease (or marriage). I give and bequeath the same to my seven children to wit: Cornelia, wife of John Boyd; Nathan Brookhouser; Keziah, wife of Ephraim Mills; Susanna, wife of David Jones; Martha Ann, wife of William Patterson; Orvilla Brookhouser and Phares Luther Brookhouser to be divided amongst them share and share alike provided that to my youngest son, the said Phares Luther, I give and bequeath the sum of fifty ($50) dollars more than to either of the others to be paid to him by my exeutors.

Third: It is my will that my said wife, Mary shall remain on the farm where she now lives and keep the farm in as good order and repair as possible and that my two youngest children shall remain on the farm with their mother and advise her all they can and receive their maintenances and support from the farm so long as they remain with their mother on the farm as aforesaid.

Fourth: It is my will that after the decease (or marriage) of my said wife, Mary that all my real and personal estate shall be sold by my executor for the best price he can obtain for the same, and I hereby enpower my executor herein after named to sell all my real estate at public or private sale, as he may think best and to make, execute and deliver to the purchaser sufficient deed or deeds or there allowances in law for the same, and divide the proceeds of the same amongst my children as aforesaid.

And lastly, I nominate, constitute and appoint my said wife, Mary and my friend, Samuel Stokes to be the executors of this my last will and testament.

Signed, sealed, published and declared the 21st day of May 1865 by the said Adam Brookhouer as and for his last will and testament in presence of us, who at his request herein signed as witness to the same.
