Bowie, Md--Ruth Peck Heisey, 98, died Friday, Jan.8, 1999, at the Larkin Chase Harborside Health Care Nursing Center, Bowie, Md.


Born Dec.20, 1900, in Conneaut, she was the daughter of Charles Elmer and Edith Marcia (Simons) Tower.


Mrs. Heisey was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Cumberland, Md., and a 50-year member and past matron of the Eastern Star, Butler, Pa. In her younger days , she taught school for a year just north of Beaver Center, Pa.


She enjoyed needlepoint and playing bridge, but the love of her life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Survivors include two daughters, Jean Schmidt, of Charlotte, N.C: and Nedra P. Evans, of Bowie, Md: a stepson, Robert V. Heisey of New York: two sisters, Bernice Evans of Athens, Ga., and Betty Terrill of Childersburg, Ala.: six grandchildren, including granddaughter Lou Ann Dailey, with whom she had recently made her home in Stevensville, Md: three step-grandchildren: eight great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.


Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Russell Tower Peck, in infancy: on Dec.7, 1962, by her first husband, Carlton Jess Peck, whom she wed Aug.18, 1920; on Dec.12, 1995 by her second husband, Victor Dewey Heisey, whom she wed Nov.15, 1972; two sisters, Frances Bryant and Ruby Tower; and two brothers, Keith and Donald Tower.


Service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main St., East Springfield, Pa., with the Rev. Tim Ferguson of Springfield Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Beaver Center Cemetery, Beaver Center.
