Thomas Heatheral Young

World War I Hero
Thomas Heatheral Young was born 10 Sept 1897, in Urey, PA. He served in both World War I and World War II. During World War I, he was in the Army, part of the Co 17, 5th Training Battalion, 153rd Depot Brigade, part of the 78th. During World War II, Thomas went into the Merchant Marine at the age of 46. He served on three Liberty ships as messman and utility. He owned a farm across from the Carmel Freeman Cemetery and lived in Meadville from 1940s to the 1960s.
He married Mary A Pyle, and became the father of Thomas H, Buelah M, Richard L, Shirley Rae, and grandfather of Richard L, James D, Alicyn M, Robert D. Thomas Heatheral Young died 19 Jan 1968, in Spencer Hospital in Meadville. He is buried across from the farm in Carmel Freeman Cemetery.
