Lute S. Veith, aged 53, died at his home in Greenville Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock after an illness of three years. Mr. Veith was born in Meadville on October 18, 1876 , a son of Charles and Frances Thompson Veith. Before the outbreak of the war he was employed on the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad as an engineer. During the war he served as sergeant in the 9th Grand Division of the Transportation corps. Spending about 18 months in France. He returned and again entered the railroad's employ until ill health forced his retirement.
Surviving are his wife, father, Charles of Meadville; one daughter Mrs. Charles Whiteman of Meadville; two sisters Miss Georgia Veith of Meadville and Mrs. C. K. Robson of Detroit, Michigan; and two brothers Charles E. Veith of Seattle, Washington and Daniel S. Veith of Meadville. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home in Greenville. The body will be taken to Meadville with interment at Greendale Cemetery in the Veith family plot.
