PA--Meadville Tribune....06 Jun 1977 FRED B TRACE-83: died Saturday [6-04] at United Methodist Nursing Hosp-Meadvl where he had been a patient for 4yrs. He was born 13 Jul 1893 in Meadville, a son of Fred & Sarah Birch Trace & married Marian Johnston 12 Jun 1924. A 1920 graduate of Allegheny College he later took a masters degree in chemical engin-eering at Allegheny. He was employed for 6yrs in the testing laboratory of the former Erie RR, then worked for 2yrs as principal & football coach at Chester WV High School. He retired in 1958 after 30yrs with PPG Industries, last serving as superintendent of labor relations at the corporation's Works#9 in CyrstalCity MO. He came to Meadville in that year. He was a veteran of WW1, serving in the US Army Air Corps. He was a member & past master of Masonic Lodge-408, member & past high priest of Solomon Royal Arch Chapter-191, member of Northwestern Commandery-125, member of ZemZemShrine Temple, member of Scottish Rite Consistory-StLouis. A former member of StLouis Council-BoyScout of America, he had received the Silver Beaver Award, the highest council honor in scouting. He was a past president & served as secretary for many years of Meadville Rotary Club.
Survivors, in addition to widow include sons: James Trace-Brentwood MO; Fred Trace-Mea-dville; sis: Frances Tomlinson-Jamestown NY; 6 grandchildren, 2 nephews--1 niece. A son: Robert preceded him in death.
Service will be held Tuesday [6-07] at Robert Waid Funeral Home with RevDrWm Smith-First Presbyterian Church officiating. Entombment will be at Roselawn Mausoleum.
