John T. "Jack" Kleean

"John T "Jack" Kleean, 78, of 767 New St, died at 4 pm on Thursday in Titusville Hospital following a long illness. He was born on March 5, 1888, at Titusville in the house where he resided most of his life. Employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad, he retired a few years ago when he was yardmaster in Titusville. Mr Kleean was a member of St Titus Church, the Titusville Elks, Titusville Eagles and the American Legion Post of Titusville. On Sept 18, 1917, he enlisted as a private in the US Army. From Jan 29, 1918, to April 7, 1919, he served overseas with the AEF in France. During this time he was made a sergeant. On April 30, 1919, he was discharged at Ft Dix, NJ. Surviving are the following nieces and nephews: Harry Kleean of Oil City, Mrs Anna Peterson, Mrs Elsie Crofton and Mrs Mae Battiss of Hamilton, Canada, and Mrs Helen Mitchell of Florida. Friends may call at the Tracy Home of Funerals....[R]equiem mass will be celebrated at 8 am Saturday in St Titus Church with Rev William Smith, pastor of St Titus Church, officiating. Interment will be in St Catharine's Cemetery."
