CAPTAIN Robert S. Gill, 18th Infantry " Displayed exceptional heroism during the battle of July 18-22, 1918 near Soissons.
He led his company against the enemy with skill, courage and exceptional gallantry until he himself was mortally wounded."
Died 23 September 1918 at American Red Cross Hospital 3, Soissons, France, of wounds received in action.
Buried in AEF Cemetery # 34. Also received French CDG Medal.
