MEADVILLE, July 11. — Dr. Robert Bruce Gamble, aged 69, prominent local physician, died early today at the City hospital, following an illness of three months. He became seriously ill while on a vacation in Florida late in the winter.
Dr. Gamble was son of Dr. W. J. and Helen Beebe Gamble and was born at Mosiertown June 28, 1871. He was educated in Meadville schools, Allegheny college and the University of Buffalo, and had practiced his profession of doctor of medicine here since 1897.
The deceased served in the Mexican border hostilities in 1917, and later in the World war in France. For his services overseas he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and French Legion of Honor decoration. He was a member of the Episcopal church and of the Masonic fraternity, Rotary club and various civic organizations here.
He leaves his wife, a brother, Dr. W. M. Gamble of Little Cooley, and a sister in East Springfield, O.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p. m. from Christ Episcopal church in Meadville Saturday, with interment in Greendale cemetery. Titusville Herald, Fri., 12 Jul 1940, p.10, Titusville, Pa.

Meadville, Pa., July 12 - Dr. Robert Bruce Gamble, aged 69, surgeon and retired army officer who organized and headed the entertainmment section of the American Expeditionary Force in France, died Thursday of a heart ailment.
Dr. Gamble also was a veteran of the Spanish-American war as captain of Co. B, 15th PVI, and the Mexican border campaign.
He was a member of the staff and board of Meadville Hospital, physician for the Allegheny College football teams in the days when it was a ranking contender on the gridiron, and a member of the trustees executive committee at the college.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
