Thomas Ford was born in Middlesex County, NJ in 1758. 

He served as private, in Captain Longstreet's company, under Colonels Dayton and Nielson, New Jersey Line in 1778.  In 1781, he married Hopeful Buckalew (1765-1849).

He died in Crawford County, PA in 1831, and is buried in Gravel Run Cemetery in Venango Township, Crawford County.

Thomas was married August 1781 in South Amboy, NJ to Hopeful Bucklew, born 1765 in South Amboy, NJ.  She died January 24, 1849 in Woodcock Twp., Crawford County, PA.  Thomas enlisted May 23, 1778 and was discharged February 23, 1779.  He served in several militias also.  Battles he was in included Staten Island, NY, Paoli, PA, Monmouth, NJ, Stoney Point, NY, Hackensack, NY, and Mount Pleasant, NY. He received a pension #W.4435 on June 10, 1818.  Hopeful received a pension on November 12, 1845. 

They had a daughter, Margaret Ford Bender, born 1800 and resided in Venango, PA. Other children include John who died in infancy, Peter born December 16, 1783, Married Elizabeth King January 14, 1812.  Peter died June 1852 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He was a resident of Armstrong County, PA in 1838.  James born 1793, resident of Crawford County, PA in 1849.  Charles born 1808.  There also was a child, 6 years old who was living with Thomas and Hopeful named also Hopeful, probably a granddaughter.  This information was gleaned from Thomas' Military Records...
