Revolutionary War Veteran

James Hadlock

Crawford County

Corporal

Van Schaicks NY Batt. Cpl

James Hadlock was born 25 Dec 1752 in Fishkill, NY.  He married Asa (last name unknown) in 1800.  He lived in Tioga Co. NY, and may be the same James as in 1790 Delaware Co, NY census.

Children of James and Asa Hadlock: Jeremiah, Mercy (married Ezra Cole); Charlotte (married a Mr. Ferrill); Elizabeth (married a Mr. Smith); Permelia (married Nathan Cook); Peter (married Sarah Alexander, who is in the submitter's line).

James and Asa moved to Crawford Co Pa about 1834 from Cayuga Co NY to be near their children. They lived on lot 88 in Harmonsburg.

James Hadlock received pension #S22817.

James Hadlock died in 1837 in Crawford County, and Asa died the following year.  The burial location is unknown, but it is probable that they could be buried in the old cemetery near where the Hadlock's lived in Harmonsburg.

[Submitter notes:  When I was in Harmonsburg in the early 1970's, the entrance to the cemetery was off a playground and the cemetery was so poorly kept, that I couldn't walk through there or see many of the stones. A lot of them were broken.]
