Thomas
Gilmore was born in Ireland in 1757.
He enlisted in 1776, in Capt. William Peebles'
company, Col. Samuel Miles' Rifle regiment, Pennsylvania
Line. He
married Elizabeth Young (1768-1844)
in 1793. They lived
in Woodcock Township.
Their
son John Y. Gilmore
(1794-1854) was born the following year, and in 1821,
married Jane Burnside
(1802-1889).
Thomas
Gilmore died in 1808 in Crawford County.
Elizabeth's
petition for pension was denied due to no specification of
company, regiment and officers.
