Obituary

"RECENT DEATHS - Morris R O'Connor, aged 65 years, a resident of this city for many years, died at his home on Halyday street at 7 am Monday from a complication of diseases after an illness of several weeks. Mr O'Connor was born in Ireland on December 29, 1843. When a small boy he emigrated to this country and served as a private in Company E, Sixteenth Pennsylvania Cavalry, in the Civil war. During the early days of the oil excitement he located here and was for a time engaged as a driller along Oil Creek. In 1885 he removed to North Dakota to live, but returned here with his family in 1892, and has since resided in Oil City, having had charge of one of the rural mail routes for a number of years. He was a member of St Joseph's church and of Hayes Post, No 167, GAR. He leaves surviving his widow, three sons and one daughter, Frank and Henry O'Connor, of this city, and George O'Connor and Mrs W C Schwobel, of North Dakota. He also is survived by two brothers and one sister, Martin O'Connor, of Franklin, Patrick O'Connor, of Wisconsin, and Mrs Henry Timely, of Franklin. Arrangements have not as yet been completed for the funeral services, pending the arrival of relatives from a distance."
