Enlisted in Company H, 83rd Pennsylvania Infantry at Linesville, PA.,
August 26, 1861. He reenlisted October 25, 1862 and February 23, 1864. He was promoted to Sergeant and was
mustered out with Company B. June 28, 1865.
John McKinney was born February 28, 1843 in Linesville,
Crawford County, PA, the son of Isaac McKinney (1810-1870) and Susan Litwiler (1812-1900).
He died April 22, 1918, in Pine Township, Crawford County, PA, and is buried in
Linesville Cemetery, Linesville Borough, Crawford
County, PA.
