Served from 1861-1865

Saw battle in many of the key campaigns of the war

Fought in the decisive battle of "The Little Round Top"

at Gettysburg

Achieved officer's status before he was discharged

Frank Doing was born in 1843 in Bradford Co., NY.  He was orphaned as a child in Crossingville, Crawford County, PA, where his family lived during the 1840s - 1850s. He raised by Hopkins Stone on his farm in Edinboro.  

Frank married Mary Leacock, daughter of Hugh Leacock of Ireland, after his discharge from the service.  Frank contacted lung illness while in the military, and was in poor health.  

He died in 1877 when he was 34 years old, leaving his wife and three small children.  He and Mary Leacock Doing are buried in the family plot in the old Edinboro Cemetery.
