David Alfred Apple

Crawford County, Pennsylvania

 

 

 

 

Captain, Co. B, 83rd Regiment, PA Volunteers

Injured in explosion at Fredricksburg, VA 

and partially lost his speech.  

Furloughed and put in charge of an Army 

smallpox hospital in Washington, DC where he 

served as Captain of the Invalid Corps.   

Although immunized, he caught the disease and died,

18 Jan 1863.  

Buried in Arlington Cemetery.

David Alfred Apple was born 18 Aug 1842.
