Obituary:
Reverend Burgess D. Holter, for the last five years pastor of the Sligo and Licking Presbyterian Churches and sometime stated supply of the Callensburg Presbyterian Church, passed away at his home near Curllsville on Friday, April 30, 1926 in the seventy-first year of his life.
He was a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and had served in the gospel ministry for about forty years. He is survived by his wife and one son, George Holter.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Licking Presbyterian Church , the Rev. Williard C. Mellin of Rimersburg, officiating and delivering the eulogy. Rev. Ruell S. Kiern led in prayer and read the resolutions of respect from the deceased's former charge at Fairview and Springfield in Erie Presbytery. Rev. H. T. Chisholm read the Scripture lesson; Rev. James M. McCurdy offered the prayer. These three ministers represented the Presbytery of Clarion.
Interment was in the Licking Presbyterian churchyard.
"And so at last after forty years of labor in the Master's vineyard the voice of God came to him saying, 'Burgess Holter, friend of God, come up higher". And so he passed over the river and all the trumpets sounded on the other side.
