R. C. FREY Was born in Conneaut township, Crawford County, in 1836, where he resided until he reached his majority, during which time he attended common school, and the Kingsville, O., Academy. Then he followed the profession of teacher for several years, having schools both in the county and in Mississippi. Becoming, in the course of events, a student of Allegheny College, he graduated from that Institution in 1862. The next step was to take charge of the Conneautville Courier as proprietor. This he conducted for about one year and a half, when in company with a brother he founded the Sharon Herald, at Sharon, Mercer County, Pa., in 1864. Continuing there one year, and selling out, he came to Meadville and took up the study of law, which he had been pursuing at intervals for some time. In the fall of 1866 he was admitted to practice, and has devoted himself since mainly to his profession. In 1872 he was chosen Justice of the Peace, serving the entire term. In 1874 he was appointed Police Justice, and was re-appointed for the two successive terms. Mr. Frey was married in the fall of 1862.
