GEORGE A. CHASE, the youngest son of the late Joseph L. Chase, was born at Titusville, December 6th, 1844. With a preparatory education, afforded by the public schools, he entered Allegheny College in the fall of 1861, and graduated with his class in the spring of 1865. Immediately following his graduation, he began the study of law with Alexander Miller, of Pittsburgh, and was admitted to the bar of Allegheny county. He then went back to his native place and engaged in the practice of his profession, with George F. Chester. When the latter retired, Mr. Chase opened an office alone and has since continued it. He was appointed City Clerk, of Titusville, serving during the years of 1870 and 1871, afterwards becoming candidate for nomination for District Attorney. He was appointed United States Commissioner in 1878, and still retains the office.
