PHILIPSBURG - Robert James Burns, 44, of Philipsburg until several years ago, died yesterday, Feb. 27, while at work at the Pratt-Whitney Aircraft Corp. plant near North Haven, Conn., where he resided. Death was reportedly due to a heart attack.
He was also a former resident of Madera and a veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre. He is survived by his wife, Doris (Kephart) Burns, a native of Philipsburg area, and these children: Dean, with the U.S. Navy; and Debra and Jean, both at home.
His mother, Mrs. Norman Markley of Madera also survives.
He was born at York Jan. 12, 1924, a son of Enos and Evaline (Cornely) Burns. He attended the Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Shoff Funeral Home at Madera. The Rev. John Kieffel will officiate and interment will be in the Alexander Cemetery, Madera.
Friends may call in the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and until the hour of services Friday.
