Blake Shugarts, Former Member Of State Legislature, Dies
Blake B. Shugarts, former Clearfield borough, tax-collector and a Democratic member of the State House of Representatives from 1933 to 1938 from Clearfield County, died in the Veterans Hospital at Elsmere, Del., yesterday morning. He was 54.
He served one term as borough tax collector in the 1920s and was also Great Sachem or state head of the Red Men, a fraternal order in 1933. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his widow, the former Lulu Wilsoncroft, and one son and three daughters, Edmund in the U. S. Army, Mrs. Helen Riehl of Hatboro, Pa., Linda Jean and Margaret May of Claymont, Del. Also surviving are his father, George B. Shugarts of Clearfield, and two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Anna Knepp of Olanta; Mrs.Helen McGaughey of Clearfield; Frank of West Decatur and Fred of Clearfield.

Funeral services will be held from the Leavy Funeral Home here Friday at 2 p. m. in charge of Rev. John F. Buehler of the Emmanuel Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Stoneville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and evening and until time of services Friday. The American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars posts will conduct military rites at the cemetery.
