John Levern Shelow

MILITARY: MASTER SERGEANT US ARMY. John had multiple enlistments and was a career non-commissioned officer, but he began as a private, 1st enlisting 22 Aug 1898, initially serving in Cuba and The Philippines in the Spanish-American War era. According to the *1900 US federal census, he was stationed at Ft. Leavenworth, KS, and likewise, in 1920 he was stationed at Camp Kearney, San Diego, CA, as a color sergeant. He retired 5 Feb 1925.
