CURWENSVILLE - Mass of the Resurrection for Dewey Fye, 76, 523 State St., Curwensville, will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday from St. Timothy's Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Maryland will officiate. Interment will be in St. Timothy's plot in Crown Crest Memorial Park. Military services will be conducted at the graveside.
Friends may call in the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. Thursday until the hour of services. A Scripture Vigil service will be held in the funeral home at 8 p.m.
Mr. Fye died at 11 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9 at the Altoona VA Hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks.
He was born in Pottersdale June 8, 1898, a son of Henry M. an Martha (Narehood) Fye. He married the former Anna Marie Doetsch in Coblenz, Germany, Oct. 13, 1919.
He was a veteran of World War I, was a sergeant in the Army Quartermaster Corps with the 117 Regiment, Battery E, American Expeditionary Forces in Germany. He was employed by North American Refractories Co. from 1924-45 and from 1945-56 owned and operated Fye's Restaurant in Curwensville. He had resided in Curwensville for 53 years.
He was a member of St. Timothy's Church and a life member of the Curwensville American Legion.
In addition to his wife, these children service: Mrs. Harold (Katherine) Oberlies, Cleveland, Ohio; Dewey L., Syracuse, N.Y.; Harry, Curwensville; William, Clinton, Iowa; Irene, Buffalo, N.Y.; M. Sgt. Gerald, Hastings, Neb., and Mrs. Ronald (Cecile) Jones, Mt. Lebanon.
Twenty-seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive along with these sisters:
Mrs. James (Nancy) Holt, Clearfield; Mrs. Ray (Viola) Clouse, Falls Creek; Mrs. Alta Brophy, Carnegie and Mrs. Max (Ina) Hooven, Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters and a son Charles in 1969.
