--born in South Mahoning township, Indiana county, Pa., December 2, 1839,-- educated at the subscription school of his native township, later taking an academic course. He taught two terms of school at Lumber City, Clearfield county during the winter of 1861.

--On May 15th, 1861 he enlisted in Company K Thirteenth Regiment Pennsylvania Reserves, known as the "Bucktail Regiment," returned to the Titusville oil regions, where he followed carpentering.

On February 15, 1872, he was married to Nancy C. M'Kay, of Franklin, a daughter of a Union soldier, who was captured at Gettysburg and died while being held a prisoner of war, and in 1874 moved to Dayton, where he was in charge of the Boys' Department of the Soldiers' Orphan School.

In 1880 was appointed census taker of Dayton borough and Wayne township, and on October 16, 1889 was appointed postmaster at Dayton by President Harrison.

Until a short time prior to his death he served as jury commissioner of this county.

He is survived by a widow and two children. His daughter, Mrs. Harry E. Logan, is a resident of DuBois, Pa., while his son, James E. Morrow, resides in Pittsburg.

The funeral services will be held at the Glade Run Presbyterian church, Rev. G. W. M'Intyre officiating, Wednesday morning at ten o'clock.
