"Benjamin and William Carr, it will be remembered, were captured at the same time. They all remained together and all enjoyed tolerable health until near the close of their capitivity when Benjamin was the first to take sick and was sent to the hospital at Florence.
The last account of William was seeing him get aboard the boat for Wilmington ... He was never seen again."
