Last Will and Testament of Jeremiah Ziemer

Brecknock Township, Berks County, PA

In the Name of God Amen

I Jeremiah Ziemer finding myself in a weak state of bodily health, but tahnks be to God, yet of a sound memory and good understanding, having therefore,determined within myself to make my last will and testament in manner following to wit. First is my will and forder that all my just debts and funeral charges shall be paid out of my whole estate. Further is my will and forder, that a certain quantity of bonds or obligations viz. twenty in number, each for the sum of twenty pounds, given to me by my son HENRY ZIEMER, and now aforsignedby me to ANDREW BORGERT (for certain makers [markers?] taken) shall be in the hereafter following manner. Divided used and aforsigned, (if not heretofore aforsigned) to wit, five, as the first of said bond shall be aforsigned by the said ANDREW BORGERT, to PETER SHWEITZER, [Peter Shweitzer apparaised and inventoried the estate of George Burhhart] as a pledge of Surity concerning the departure of my late wife. The remainder fifteen of said bonds shall be made in three equal share in amount and value, whereof said ANDREW BORGERT shall keep one share for himself, to do therewith what he pleases, and one share shall he give and assign to the children of my deceased daughter CHRISTINE, without advantage to any, to do therewith what they please, and one share shall be given and deliver to my said son HENRY ZIEMER, to do therewith what he pleases. Which dividing of said fifteen bond shall be considered as heritages of my estate. Further is my will and forder that my son HENRY, and my son in law ANDREW BORGERT and the childrem of my deceased daughter CHRISTINE shall inherit my whole estate in equal shares (after my just debts, funeral and other charges are paid, and after my son HENRY has received five shillings his advance for [ shield? obscured- ink blot] five shillings I give and bequeath him for his birth right.) to wit, one share my said son HENRY, therewith to do what he please, and one share my said son in law ANDREW BORGERT, therewith to do what he please and one share the children of my deceased daughter CHRISTINE (one as the other.) to do with what they please. Further is my ernest will and forder that such money, sum or bonds which NICOLAUS MOLLAR, my late son in law has received of me, shall descend to the children of my deceased daughter CHRISTINE in equal shares and I give them jointly a full right as as far as my power therein extend, to demand and to receive the same of the said NICOLAUS MOLLAR, as a part of their motherly heritage without any objection. Finally I appoint and order executor, to execute this my last will and testament after death, namely my son HENRY ZIEMER, and I hereby annul all former wills and testaments and have signed and sealed the same with my own hand aseal on the twentieth day of November in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three.

Estate appraised at $334. 26. Apparently there was no land involved. Of the a said aforementioned amount herewith to mentioned as $334.26, $219.51 was in cash, there was a $20.00 gold watch, a silver spoon, books, an arm chair, some kind of tobacco knife, a "looking glass" 2 kegs, and a Dutch bake oven.
