1881: Upper Bern Township, Berks County, PA
I, John Riegel. of the Township of Upper Bern, in the county of Berks, and the state of Pa. being of sound mind, memory, and understanding, do make and publish this, my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. And first, I direct that my body be decently interred and my funeral expenses by my Executor paid as soon as conveniently can be done after my decease. As to such estate as it hath pleased God to intrust me with I dispose of the same as follows.
Item, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Rebecca Reigel all my household furniture, farm implements, also all of that certain tract of farm land which, I now occupy situated in Township County, and State aforesaid, adjoining lands of Henry Yoder, Benjamin B. Steyler and Sophia Seyfert with the appurtenances during her natural life or as long as she may have my name. Yet she may sell that personal property or as much as she choose to do, and after her marriage or death my Executor shall sell the above described land at public sale to the highest bidder and all moneys dervided therefrom shall be divided equally among all my children share and share alike, after all my debts are paid.
Item, I give, devise, and bequeath to my son Sepperius F. Reigel, Weaver Loom or Weaving Machine with all the appurtenances belonging thereto to have and hold the above described Machine, to his heirs and assigns for ever. Lastly I do hearby constitute and appoint my son Cornelius Riegel Executor of my last will and Testament., in witness whereof I, John Riegel the Testator have to this my will written on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this 25th day of May. A.D. 1881
