In the Name of the most high Trinity, Amen.
As I Jacob Kauffmann, in Bern Township, Bercks County, have in consideration the debility of my mortal body, who's [sic] powers are most consumed by increasing age, I nevertheless no decrease or want of my sound understanding or memory find, therefore I order to regard this my last Testament and Will as my last without exception, and to be confirmed by my relicts in the following Manner.
First, I recommend my immortal Soul to that God who has given it to me, but the corpus I leave to my relicts, to bring him to the place of his rest amongst my religionists according to the custom of Christians.
Secondly, I order and bequeath in this my Testament and Will, that all my Estate what is left after my Death shall be divided amongst all my Children in equal Shares; under this Condition that the Children of my Daughter Anne Marie the former Wife of Joseph Althauss, now married to Christian Albrecht, to wit the two Sons, Joseph Althauss, and Daniel Althauss and the Daughter Anne Marie Althauss shall inherit a child's portion of my Estate which is left, so as one of my other Children, to wit that share, which should come to my Daughter Anne Marie the Wife of Christian Albrecht, this share shall draw the above mentioned three my grandchildren, the Children of Joseph Althauss.
That now the within mentioned Testament and Will may be considered and executed as my last of all, therefore I contradict one's [sic] more, in the Presence of the present Wittnesses and with a sound understanding and good Memory, all by me before made writings and bequeathings, in what form, opinion or manner they may have made, written or done, and that this alone and only may be regarded, and accepted and confirmed as said before.
Thirdly, I order in this my Testament and Will that my two Son's [sic] Valentine Kauffmann and Joseph Kauffmann shall be the Executors of this my Testament and Will so as mentioned within. Therefore I have signed it with my own hand and sealed with my seal. Done the 28 th Day September, in the Year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred.
